Program
La Biblioteca del Mañana
Read together the books that shape tomorrow's technology, science, and society.
Monthly, third Wednesday, 7:00 PM Pereira time (hybrid).
La Biblioteca del Mañana is the reading club of Pereira Tech Talks. Once a month we meet to discuss a book that touches the future — applied AI, philosophy of technology, science fiction, leadership, climate, society. The reading is the prompt; the conversation is the point.
Why it exists
The tech industry reads short articles, threads and release notes. Almost nobody reads whole books about the craft. The Library of Tomorrow is the opposite bet: once a month, an entire book, a 90-minute conversation.
It is not an academic club. It is not reading purely for pleasure. It is technical reading with a purpose: every book is chosen because it sheds light on a decision we make as engineers, founders, leaders or citizens in a society that technology is rewriting.
The bet: deep reading is rare, undervalued, and exactly what makes engineering judgement compound over years instead of staying stuck in the 6-month cycle of the next framework.
How it works
- One session a month — third Wednesday, 7:00 PM Pereira time, hybrid format (in person in Pereira + Google Meet for those joining remotely).
- One book a month — announced four weeks ahead so there is time to read it at human speed.
- A reading guide — the program leads publish a document with questions, context and discussion points one week before the session.
- Conversation in Spanish, notes in English — the discussion is in Spanish (the community’s primary language); notes and takeaways are published in both English and Spanish to reach the international community.
- No exam, no homework — reading the whole book is ideal but not mandatory. Come with as far as you got; you will still contribute.
Topics we cover
- Applied AI and agents — from Superintelligence to recent books on RAG, evals and the agentic web.
- Philosophy of technology — technology is not neutral; understanding why matters.
- Science fiction that predicted the present — Le Guin, Stephenson, Liu Cixin, Stross.
- Technical leadership and team building — from The Manager’s Path to books on staff engineering.
- Climate, energy, society — technology as a sociotechnical system, not a sandbox.
- History of software — because the past repeats itself under new names.
How the book is chosen
The next book is decided at the end of each session, under three rules:
- It has to connect with the present or future of technology.
- It has to be readable: if nobody in the cohort dares to read it in a month, it is not the candidate.
- Curation rotates among the club’s active members — nobody monopolizes the list.
How to take part
- Write to us through the contact form with the subject “The Library of Tomorrow”.
- We send you the current book, the date of the next session and the link to join.
- If you propose a book and we accept it for a session, you moderate that conversation. That is the club’s only “responsibility”.
FAQs

What language is the discussion in? — Spanish (the primary language). Takeaways are published in Spanish and English.
Does it cost anything? — No. It is completely free. Everyone buys their own books.
Can I propose a book? — Yes. If we accept it, you moderate that session.
Do I need to be technical to take part? — No. Being curious about how technology shapes the future is enough.
Is it in person or online? — Hybrid. There is a physical location in Pereira and a Google Meet link for those outside.
