QA First: lessons from Open Source

From Linux and PostgreSQL to Kubernetes and AI, the world's most successful open-source projects share one trait: quality does not depend on a single person, but on process, community, and continuous improvement. This talk walks through more than 40 years of history to trace how the quality practices that hold up much of the internet were born and evolved. Through stories, real cases, and the ideas of figures like Richard Stallman, Linus Torvalds, and Guido van Rossum, we look at how code review, testing, documentation, and governance let small projects grow into technologies used by millions.
