QA: the pillar of software
Time to talk about quality. Two talks on the lessons open source left us and how QA delivers strategic value to the business, at the UTP.
Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, Bloque 13, Sala Magistral 1, Pereira, Colombia

Time to talk about quality
Software quality has moved well beyond catching bugs. From the early open source projects that reshaped the industry to the modern teams driving business decisions, QA has become a pillar of building products people can rely on.
This meetup explores two complementary views of quality: a chance to learn from the history, take stock of the present, and picture where software quality is heading.
QA First: lessons from open source
From Linux and PostgreSQL to Kubernetes and artificial intelligence, the world’s most successful open source projects share something: quality does not rest on one person, it rests on process, community, and continuous improvement. We walk through more than 40 years of history to see how the quality practices holding up much of the internet were born and grew.
Through stories, real cases, and the ideas of figures like Richard Stallman, Linus Torvalds, and Guido van Rossum, we look at how code review, testing, documentation, and governance let small projects become technology used by millions.
By Juan Alejandro Pérez Bermúdez, Distribution Engineer at DailyBot.
QA beyond testing: bringing strategic value to the business
On many teams, QA is confined to running tests and finding defects at the end of the process. Its real value reaches much further.
This talk explores how QA professionals can grow into a more strategic role — joining early, anticipating risk, and contributing to the decisions the business makes.
By Laura Daniela Santa, Software Testing Analyst at Evertec.
